Wrought Iron Balustrading

Wrought iron is a great way to express a more traditional, elegant balustrade design, for inside or outside. Wrought iron has become a term to describe the style of balustrading more than merely describing the material used in manufacture. The more ornate, scrolled and twisting styles are used in homes that require a more classic feel. There are many, many curlicues and variations available, making it easy to design the perfect, unique wrought iron balustrade.

The standard material used in making wrought iron balustrading is mild steel. When used externally mild steel must be galvanised (dipped in molten zinc) and coated in two pack paint to resist oxidisation. Other materials, such as aluminium and stainless steel, may also be used.
